Mergence
I am currently working on a series of paintings based on the concept of brush-less painting using a paint drip method. This involves applying paint to the surface of the canvas and allowing it to form natural convex circles. Gravitational force causes the paint to form these circles in a very uniform manner also adding a subtle three-dimensional quality to the traditional two-dimensional painting. My intent is to expose the paint’s natural ability to form shapes and patterns when it is allowed to drift and merge on its own after it is applied to the surface of the canvas.
